ST. HELENA, CA - MARCH 27: The Culinary Institute of America campus on March 27, 2013 in Napa Valley, California. It is a not-for-profit academic institution of higher learning in cooking.
Napa students at the Culinary Institute of America’s Copia campus are suing the school over tuition. The Napa Valley Register reports that the lead plaintiff in the case, Adriana Carlin, felt shortchanged when the school had to shutdown and move towards distance learning while still charging the same amount for tuition. The complaint alleges that it can cost a student up to $15,540 a semester while Carlin had paid $9,691 for the spring semester. It’s unclear how many students will be involved in the suit but Carlin suggests it could be in the hundreds.
