State Bill Proposed to Deal with Covid Vaccine Misinformation

New research finds the spread of misinformation on social media is undermining the coronavirus vaccine. This is why California lawmaker Dr. Richard Pan is introducing a bill would provide a process to correct and remove false, misleading, deceptive or unlawful material circulating on social media sites.

“Unfortunately, a major source of misinformation about covid and the vaccine is social media,” said Dr. Pan.

Imran Ahmed of the Center for Countering Digital Hate says their recent study found that Facebook and Instagram’s algorithm is driving people further into their own realities because automated recommendations feed a steady flow of false claims about COVID-19 and vaccines.
