A Graton man has filed a civil rights lawsuit against two deputies and the county over an arrest last year that resulted in injury.
In the lawsuit filed late last month in federal court, Jason Anglero-Wyrick, a Black man, alleges that the deputies used excessive force on him whey they shocked him with a taser and sicced a police dog on him. The dog did not release him when deputies commanded it to do so, and instead held on to his leg for 90 seconds. Anglero-Wyrick claims the April 2020 incident caused physical injuries and required multiple surgeries. Police responded to a call that he had pointed a gun at another person earlier in the day. Anglero-Wyrick was unarmed and held his hands up when officers arrived. Charges related to the allegation that Anglero-Wyrick pointed a gun at someone were later dropped with the District Attorney citing insufficient evidence.
