The Windsor Town Council has voted to demand the resignation of Mayor Dominic Foppoli.  Foppoli presided over the first half of the lengthy meeting, and read a statement that reiterated his position that he will not step down, saying, “I have my head held high because I know deep in my heart that I have done nothing criminally wrong and will eventually be cleared.”  Councilwoman Esther Lemus recused herself from the meeting because she is one of the women who has accused Foppoli of sexual assault.  The council voted 2 to 1 last night to pass a motion demanding his resignation.  It came after lengthy public comment…
The comments also came from survivors of sexual assault, who stated that this is bringing up trauma all over again…
At one point, Foppoli requested to leave the virtual meeting, so the council decided to hold a vote in order to meet quorum.  After the motion to demand his resignation passed, Foppoli left the meeting, which drew frustration from councilmembers and public commenters.  It is a symbolic resolution that does nothing to remove the mayor from office.  The vote was held as Foppoli faces multiple sexual assault allegations.
