Community groups and lawmakers are calling on Governor Gavin Newsom to come up with more money in his upcoming May budget revision to deal with a huge spike in gun violence. Aqeela Sherills with Advance Peace says gun violence has gotten worse in California since the pandemic, jumping 46-percent in 2020. Sherills says gun sales went up too and this year is tracking even worse. Oakland Assemblywoman Buffy Wicks sent a letter asking the governor for $114-million. The current budget provides just $9-million to fight the explosion in gun violence.
