Sonoma County is on the verge of reaching the Yellow Tier on the state’s coronavirus tier list. Local health officials said Wednesday that the county’s key metrics have dipped into the correct range to move out of the Orange Tier. Sonoma’s qualification could come as early as next Tuesday, and if coronavirus numbers remain in check after that, the county could officially move into the Yellow Tier on May 12th.

Meanwhile, neighboring Mendocino County is the first county in the North Bay to move out of the Orange Tier on the state’s coronavirus tier list. The county officially moved into the Yellow Tier yesterday. That means restaurants, wineries, breweries, and other businesses can operate indoors at 50-percent capacity. Retail stores, hotels and other places can also reopen indoors with some modifications.
