Brazilian Coronavirus Variant Found in Sonoma County

Another variant of the coronavirus has been detected in Sonoma County. Health officials confirmed the first local case of the Brazil variant of the coronavirus. According to the county over the weekend there are now 14 cases tied to the Brazil, U.K and West Coast coronavirus variants. Officials did not have many details regarding the newly discovered variant, except that it did not appear to be related to travel.

Meanwhile, as we enter the month of May, our current 7 day daily average of active COVID-19 cases is at 357. That is down from 941 at the beginning of April – a drop of over 50-percent. Fatalities have also dropped with four deaths recorded in April.
