Power has been restored after an outage affected about 5,300 PG&E customers in north Santa Rosa. The power went out at about 4 pm yesterday with some waiting more than 3 hours to get power back. Faulty equipment was to blame – PG&E crews discovered a piece of broken equipment at the location of a fault on a circuit. The circuit runs on both sides of Highway 101 starting on Russell Avenue, just west of Range Avenue. The outage caused extensive backups along Highway 101 as cars had to inch along at dark signals at the end of off ramps. 2,600 customers had power restored by 4:30 with another 2,500 by 7:15 pm. The last of the outages were resolved by 7:40 pm.
