Officials say that Sonoma County is on the verge of moving into the next tier on the state’s coronavirus tier list.  The county stayed in the Orange Tier after yesterday’s weekly update, but numbers have dipped low enough to make the area eligible for moving into the Yellow Tier.
“We met the yellow tier metric this week of less than 2 cases per 100,000 per population,” said health officer Dr. Sundari Mase. “The test positivity has also been 0.9% . Test Positivity overall 1.2% in the lower health places index 25%.”
If the metrics are held in check for another week the county could move into the Yellow Tier as soon as May 12th.  The county’s current case rate per 100-thousand residents is now slightly under two, which is the required threshold to move out of the Orange Tier.
