A meteorological service is predicting a busy fire season not just for California but the western United States. AccuWeather meteorologists point out that dangerously dry conditions will play a crucial role in wildfire activity this year with more than 75% of the western United States experiencing drought conditions, 21% of which is under exceptional drought. They are predicting about 9.5 million acres to burn in the Western US this year. Though the fire season is typically from May to October, California has already had over 13-thousand acres burned so far in 2021. That number is already 8 times higher that last year at this time which saw a record 4.3 million acres burned in 2020.
