Nearly Three-Quarters of California under Extreme Drought Conditions

Drought conditions continue to worsen in California. According to the US Drought Monitor, 73-percent of the state is now listed in “Extreme Drought.” That’s a significant jump from 53-percent considered to be in Extreme Drought last week. Governor Gavin Newsom has declared drought emergencies for two counties, Sonoma and Mendocino, but San Joaquin Valley farmers want him to extend the declaration for the entire state.
