Graton officials have voted to support a plan to treat wastewater from neighboring Occidental. The Graton Community Services District board voted 3-2 to create a wastewater trucking depot on Green Valley Road west of Highway 116. With the passage, it would allow about 17,000 gallons of wastewater a day to be shipped to the Graton treatment plant from Occidental. The trucking plan may be a stop-gap solution as Sonoma County’s water agency has commissioned a $156,000 study of a possible pipeline between the two towns. Residents near the proposed site, though, oppose the trucking plan with some already threatening a lawsuit.
