The Marin Agricultural Land Trust is partnering with the Hog Island Oyster Company to protect a 250-acre ranch on Tomales Bay. The more than one-million-dollar conservation easement will help Hog Island sustain its operations and grow crops on a small portion of the land. The majority of the ranch is for cattle grazing. The company is still trying to rebound from a massive loss of business during the pandemic. The Marin Agricultural Land Trust has helped to protect more than 54,00 acres of land across 87 farms and ranches since 1980.
