Healdsburg police have arrested a local transient accused of stealing a firetruck and crashing it into a tree. Police received reports last Thursday afternoon of a Sonoma County Fire District Truck driving recklessly on Highway 101 and the reporting party said it appeared to be stolen. The truck exited Highway 101 and drove onto Lytton Springs Road where it crashed into a tree with the driver fleeing on foot. Officers arrived and found the suspect, 38-year-old Jesse Denver Bacon, hiding near some bushes by the on-ramp. Bacon was detained and cited for felony possession of a stolen vehicle while at a local hospital. He was taken to the hospital after showing signs of a possible overdose.
