A 40-year-old man has been arrested for possession of fentanyl and stealing items from a Petaluma store.

Petaluma Police responded Friday night when an employee at Grocery Outlet noticed the suspect put several items into a backpack. After the suspect left the store without paying, the employee confronted the man which led to a struggle and the employee got punched in the face. The suspect, identified as Steven Jamieson, ran away but was detained a short while later by police. They found Jamieson with the stolen items as well as suspected fentanyl. Luckily, the involved employee was uninjured during the struggle.
