A group of 7 activists from the Sunrise Movement trekking from Paradise to San Francisco made a stop in Santa Rosa yesterrday to help raise support for the Civilian Climate Corps, a conservation corps included in the proposed infrastructure bill in Washington. They were greeted in Juilliard Park in Santa Rosa by about 100 people. The group spoke to the crowd about the importance of the corps as it relates to climate change and as a way to create more well paying jobs. The group of 7 includes three residents from Sonoma County who talked about the past 4 years of wildfires. One of the speakers said to the crowd “It does not have to be like this.”
