As the heat bore down, firefighters in the Santa Rosa area responded to a couple of vegetation fires yesterday. Shortly before noon, firefighters responded to a fire on Porter Creek Road near Mark West Springs Road that burned less than an acre. That fire was contained within an hour. Shortly afterwards, crews responded to a small fire on the 1600 block of Burbank Avenue and McMinn Avenue. That fire was contained quickly as well with neither blaze causing evacuations or structure damage.
