Sonoma County’s second largest city is set to take action on the drought.

On Monday, the Petaluma City council is expected to mandate a citywide cut of water use by 25-percent. If passed, it could ban the use of ornamental water fountains and features, washing of cars anywhere besides a commercial facility, and filling new swimming pools and spas. Rules about irrigation during the daytime are already in place. This new cut would follow a voluntary 20-percent reduction issued back in May.
