The Delta variant of the coronavirus has been detected in Sonoma County. Health officials said last night that they have found 18 cases of the Delta strain. The variant is believed to be 50-percent more transmissible than the UK variant of the virus, which itself is 50-percent more transmissible than the early strain of COVID-19. As of yesterday, there have been over 260 cases of a variant reported in the county and the Delta strain makes up nearly seven percent of that number.
