California’s insurance commissioner is working to increase protections for thousands of wildfire survivors in Northern California.  On Monday, Commissioner Ricardo Lara ordered insurance companies to preserve residential insurance coverage for more than 325-thousand policyholders affected by the wildfires across 22 counties.

“My action means that they can keep their insurance when they recover from these devastating wildfires,” Lara said.

The order protects residents living within the perimeter or adjoining ZIP code of a declared wildfire disaster, including the Dixie, Caldor, River, Tamarack, Antelope, McFarland, Monument, Fly and Cache fires.
