A Spare the Air Alert is in effect for Northern California. The Bay Area Air Quality Management District issued the alert yesterday, and it will be in effect for today. Officials say a combination of tailpipe exhaust, hot temperatures and wildfire smoke is expected to cause unhealthy air quality in the region.
