A Healdsburg father accused of drowning his daughter is taking a plea. As a jury was about to be selected, Gerardo Mendoza Ordaz plead no contest to voluntary manslaughter. With the plea, Ordaz now faces an 11 year prison sentence expected to handed down on October 15th. In November of 2016, Ordaz drowned his four year old daughter in a Baptismal pool at St. John’s Catholic Church believing she and her brother were “being attacked by evil.” The brother, then 9 years of age, was not physically injured. Ordaz had been smoking crystal meth for three days and hadn’t slept in that time.
