Two cases of arson have been reported in El Verano this month and one suspect is under arrest. The first instance occurred October 5th at Old Maple Avenue. 35-year-old Christopher Collins of Santa Rosa was arrested after admitting to throwing a cigarette on the ground which started the fire. The second suspicious fire on October 10th caused a tree to catch fire on Verano Avenue. Extensive damage was done and the tree had to be removed. Investigators believe it was intentional though the cause is unclear.
