Plane Crash in Ukiah Leaves One Dead

A light plane crashed at the Ukiah Regional Airport Thursday afternoon killing one person. It involved a Cessna 172 light plane and was reported at 1:14 PM. The plane reportedly came out of Napa and crashed while landing in Ukiah, resulting in one death. An eyewitness told MendoFever that a tire broke off the landing gear causing the plane to flip and land upside down. The identity of the deceased is unknown but the plane reportedly belongs to Mike Smith Aviation, a flight school based in Napa County. The owner Mike Smith confirmed it was his plane and could not comment further pending an investigation from the National Transportation Safety Board.
