There is a lot of speculation surrounding the future of the Chanate Road campus in northeast Santa Rosa. Eddie Haddad, a longtime real estate broker in Nevada, is purchasing the near 72-acre property for just over $15-million from the county. He’s been asked what his plans are and, in interviews, he’s said he wants to work closely with neighbors to come up with something everyone is comfortable with. He says that could include single-family homes and apartments, a resort, or even a casino. However, if housing is pursued, the attached affordable housing covenant to the property means that at least 15% of all homes on the site must be reserved for people with low- or moderate-incomes. The sale is expected to be finalized on December 22nd.
