A wall heater may have caused an apartment fire in Santa Rosa. Last Friday afternoon, Santa Rosa firefighters responded to a structure fire in the 1200 block of Yulupa Avenue. The two-story multi family dwelling had smoke and fire coming from upstairs. Crews attacked the fire and kept it from extending to other units or from running the attic space. The fire was knocked down shortly after getting multiple hose lines in place and cutting holes in the roof. Firefighters say that the fire appears to be unintentional pointing to a “wall heater with combustible materials nearby” as the likely cause. One person was suffered smoke inhalation and minor cuts after trying to save a cat. The cat, unfortunately, did not survive.
