A proposed safe parking site may be moved in Sebastopol. Tonight, city council members will consider moving their proposed site at 425 Morris Street to a privately owned lot at 845 Gravenstein Highway North, outside of the downtown area. Sonoma Applied Village Services will still run the site for a year leasing the property from St. Vincent de Paul Society of Sonoma County. The Sebastopol city council will also consider a plan to clear the homeless encampment on Morris Street as well as update parking laws to prevent similar camps in the future and declare a homeless emergency. The movement of sites comes after “substantial” community outreach to neighbors and nearby business owners who expressed various health and safety concerns.
