Total cargo volume is down 20% year-over-year at the Port of Oakland. Port officials say 43% fewer ships stopped in Oakland last month due to worldwide supply chain delays. Import container volume dropped 14% when compared with October of 2020. Exports were down by 27% as many carriers headed straight to Asia, and skipped Oakland, after losing valuable time backed-up at the congested Port of Long Beach. Port officials expect to see more vessels return to Oakland in the coming months.
