A former Petaluma City council member has been fined for a series of campaign finance violations. The California’s Fair Political Practices Commission announced the fines against Gabe Kearney this week due to the failure to file key campaign statements and other financial reports on time, some of which stemmed from Kearney’s 2016 Campaign. He was fined a total of $1,373 for six violations, including two counts each of failing to file timely statements of economic interest and failure to file timely semi-annual campaign statements. Kearney has said he made a mistake when filing the necessary paperwork. Kearney served 10 years on the Petaluma City Council winning two elections before losing re-election in 2020.
