A temporary carpool lane is expected to open today on a stretch of Highway 101 in Petaluma. The new northbound lane will be on the Washington Creek Bridge between Lakeville Highway to the south and the Lynch Creek Trail bridge to the north. This is a part of a widening project in Petaluma, and once completed the entire width of the freeway will increase to about 120 feet.
