Frontline workers are urging the California Legislature to provide two weeks of COVID-19 supplemental paid sick leave.  Rianan Ramos, a grocery store employee, says workers are forced to choose between coming in to work infected or losing a check.

“Since the end of supplemental paid sick leave, people with positive results have been coming into work because people can’t afford it,” said Ramos. “Every individual who contracts covid had to chose between paying their bills, putting food on the table, or not exposing the public to the virus.”

Workers hope legislators will soon take action.
