New rules intended to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the workplace in California are in effect. The new rules took effect this past Friday. The rules mandate that employers provide testing at no cost and during paid time for employees who had close contact with someone who tested positive for COVID-19. The new rules also bar employees from taking at-home tests. The rules also cut down the number of days an employee must quarantine if they test positive. Employees must now quarantine for five days and they can return to work if they test negative on the fifth day.
