Sonoma County Democrats are backing one of the four candidates for Sheriff. The local chapter has endorsed Kevin Burke, the retired Healdsburg police chief who recently switched his party registration from Republican to Democrat. In a statement from party leaders, they say “Chief Burke has always put the community first.” Burke is running against Assistant Sheriff Eddie Engram, retired Sonoma County Sheriff’s Captain Dave Edmonds and retired San Francisco police sergeant Carl Tennenbaum. If no candidate gets 50-percent of the vote in the June Primary, it will then go to a runoff between the top two vote getters.
