County leaders are being pushed to grant exemptions for certain large gatherings. During yesterday’s meeting discussing the latest public health order, several local parents, school officials and others came forward to ask for these exemptions for school sports and other events. Meanwhile, health officials pushed back saying the order should stay in effect until the Omicron surge subsides. Health Officer Dr. Sundari Mase noted that Sonoma County had the third largest increase in hospitalizations, by percentage, across the state.

As for Covid cases, they continue to increase in Sonoma County. We have seen nearly one-thousand new cases reported each of the last two days leaving active cases at 19,489. There have also been three new deaths reported, increasing the death toll to 429.
