Garrick Byers (County of Sonoma)
A employee of the county’s police watchdog group will be serving as its interim director. Former public defender Garrick Byers was approved unanimously by the Board of Supervisors to be IOLERO’s interim director. The former director, Karlene Navarro, was recently appointed to the Sonoma County Superior Court bench by Governor Newsom. As interim director, Byers will lead agency audits as well as build relationships with the public and sheriff’s office. The search for a permanent replacement is expected to take about five months.
