Sonoma Health Officer Says Drunk Driving Arrest Will Not Affect Her Job

Health officer Doctor Sundari Mase plans to keep leading Sonoma County’s fight against the pandemic, despite calls to resign. Mase has been facing backlash since news of her drunk and reckless driving conviction from last summer went public last week. Mase was arrested on suspicion of DUI in Alameda County in December of 2020. She says the incident does not affect her ability to do her job, nor will it. She also says she’s regretful and apologetic for what happened. The Press Democrat learned of Mase’s arrest from an anonymous tip. At least two of the county’s Supervisors plan to address the issue at their meeting on March 1st.
