State health officials said there is an increase in COVID-19 cases. How many cases is unknown because of an issue with the way testing data is being processed. State officials are currently reporting cases twice a week instead of every day. The California Department of Public Health reported yesterday the BA.2 variant is now the dominant strain in California.

In Sonoma County, active cases have increased to 1,145. Case numbers were down under 800 in late March.
