An Idaho-based developer is moving forward with plans to build an 84-unit affordable housing project in Sebastopol. The Pacific Companies have resubmitted their Woodmark Apartments project using an affordable housing law passed by the state in 2017. SB35 streamlines affordable housing projects in areas that haven’t built enough affordable housing by state standards. The Sebastopol Planning Department now have 80 days to approve or reject the request. The project on Bodega Avenue has faced opposition from local residents and was delayed last year when the city decided that the application needed to be changed. The project was also delayed due to the possibility of cultural artifacts connected to the Federated Indians of Graton Rancheria. That issue was settled last month after The Pacific Companies said no artifacts were found.
