Mandatory pay for workers in California affected by Coronavirus will be extended. The decision comes as the omicron variant is threatening another possible wave of infections. Board Chairman David Thomas says extending these rules is the best protection workers have. Other members suggested to continue using masks and other special protections. Management Representative Kate Crawford who casted the only ‘no’ in the six to one vote says exclusion pay is both costly and confusing. She adds that this is specifically hurting small businesses. If workplace regulators would not have made this decision, workplace pandemic rules would have expired in May.
