It’s a high stakes battle when it comes to legalizing some form of sports wagering in the Golden State. A coalition of more than 40 California tribes is throwing their support behind one initiative which would legalize in-person sports betting on tribal lands. Another one would legalize online sports betting. Supporters argue that ballot measure will fund solutions to homelessness and mental health every year. Industry gambling experts believe that by scoring the Golden State, California would be the crown jewel of the legal sports betting market in the U.S. They say if both online and in-person sports gambling are legalized, California voters could open up a market worth more than three-billion dollars in annual revenue.
