Sakaki made the announcement Thursday, in an email addressed to “graduating students.” It comes as she continues to face backlash following her handling of a sexual harassment scandal involving her husband. Some faculty members also blame her for campus enrollment and budget issues. Sakaki says she struggled with the decision, but wants the focus to remain on SSU graduates this weekend.
