The latest coronavirus surge seems to have at least stabilized in Sonoma County. The latest county data available shows that average daily transmission has dropped from 46.1 new cases per 100,000 residents on May 17th to 38.8 on May 24th. The Press Democrat, though, reports that health officials are not ready to declare an end to this surge, especially considering gatherings for Memorial Day and bumps in cases that occur after major holidays. The number of Covid ICU patients has remained low, now standing at 5 and only three Covid-related deaths were reported in the month of May bringing the county’s death toll to 493.
