The cause of the deadly McKinney Fire burning in the Klamath National Forest may have been found. NBC Bay Area Investigative Unit learned the fire started in vegetation under a power line circuit. PacifiCorp, who operates the line, says about three-hundred customers lost power the night before the fire, but it’s unclear if the outage was related. The utility company says the cause remains under investigation. The fire has burned over 60-thousand acres and is 40-percent contained as of last night.
