Sonoma Valley Teachers Authorize Strike

A teachers’ strike could be on the horizon for the Sonoma Valley Union School District. More than 95-percent of teachers in the Valley of the Moon Teachers Association have voted to authorize a strike. That means the union can now call for one, if needed, after contract negotiations stalled and mediation failed. The VMTA says impasse mediation wasn’t successful on both August 8th and September 16th. The union and district are nearly three-million-dollars apart on negotiations for increased teacher salaries and benefits for the current and next academic years.
