Former PG&E executives have reached a $117-million settlement in connection with the 2017 North Bay fires and 2018 Camp Fire. The agreement was finalized in San Francisco Superior Court on Thursday. Several former PG&E officers and directors were sued by a victim trust, which claimed the actions of the former executives directly caused the deadly fires. Dozens of fires in the fall of 2017 were caused by downed PG&E power lines. They burned thousands of acres of land in Sonoma, Mendocino, and Napa Counties, as well as in other parts of the North Bay. 22 people died. A year later, 85 people were killed in the Camp Fire in Butte County, which was also started by PG&E equipment.
