Following the latest wave of shootings nationwide, Governor Gavin Newsom has endorsed legislation that would restrict where people can carry concealed guns.  These include bans on carrying concealed weapons into churches, public libraries, zoos, amusement parks and all privately-owned businesses that are open to the public.  The proposal would also set a minimum age of 21 for anyone who applies for a conceal carry permit.  Newsom maintains California’s laws have resulted in a gun death rate in California that is 37 percent lower than the national average.
