Two Santa Rosa students from the same elementary school have taken honors at a national rap contest.
Isabella Vasquez and Kamal Fisher competed in the Flocabulary Black History Month Contest competing in the elementary school category, rapping about underrecognized Black historical figures. Both finished in the top ten, and Isabella won the top spot.
Isabella rapped about Sojourner Truth.
Kamal rapped about Vivien Thomas.
Isabella and Kamal both attend Santa Rosa Accelerated Charter School. Over 450 kids competed in the elementary school category.
