Five Small Earthquakes Shake the North Bay

There are no reports of injuries or damage after five earthquakes rattled the North Bay. The first and strongest earthquake, a magnitude four-point-four, hit at 10:40 Tuesday night. It was centered about five miles west-northwest of the town of Cobb in Lake County. Within the next two minutes, there were two more earthquakes, of magnitudes 2.8 and 2.5, centered near The Geysers geothermal field in the Mayacamas Mountains in eastern Sonoma County. Two more earthquakes were recorded near the locations of the first three at 11:30 p.m. They registered at magnitudes of 3.3 and 2.6. The U.S. Geological Survey says people reported feeling the earthquakes as far south as Antioch.
