State Insurance Coverage Raised for Wineries and Farms

California is raising its coverage limits for wineries and farms. The California FAIR Plan Association will raise the limits for commercial property (Division I) and other business owners (Division II) from $7.2 million and $8.4 million, respectively, to $20 million per location. New plans may go up to $23 million with liability. This comes as welcome news to the wine industry and farmers who have suffered over $1 billion in wildfire losses since 2017. Still, many wineries and farms tells the North Bay Business Journal that they see the FAIR Plan rate as temporary until they can get back to the private market again.
