Santa Rosa Junior College is now off the list of California community colleges without an LGBTQ-plus resource center. The college opened its first Queer Resource Center at the start of the 2022-23 academic year. A report released last year showed 75-percent of the community colleges in California didn’t have such a facility. Santa Rosa Junior College students and staff members were surveyed for a Campus Pride Index in 2016. At the time, the campus received two out of five stars for LGBTQ-plus-related resources, safety, courses, and overall involvement.
